Opportunity Village Clients Learn How to Exercise their Right to Vote
WHAT: Throughout January and February, OVIPs at multiple Opportunity Village campuses are going to learn how to exercise their right to vote. In partnership with the Nevada Disability Advocacy & Law Center (NDALC) and the Clark County Election Department, voting machines will be brought to the Opportunity Village campuses where OVIPs will be educated on the voting system, election process and have the chance to practice voting. This self-empowering endeavor is hosted by the A Team Nevada Chapters.
The A Team Nevada consists of more than 250 active members who are people with disabilities advocating to preserve choice. Their goal is to advocate, improve awareness and offer peer advisement.
Opportunity Village is dedicated to providing individuals with intellectual disabilities the programs and services necessary to assist them in their journey of seeking independence and becoming integrated members of the community.
