You may have heard that one of the most influential men in Nevada history Mr. E Parry Thomas passed away two weekends ago. E. Parry’s son Tom is a 25 year member of the Opportunity Village Foundation Board and we send our condolences to Tom, the Thomas family and to the community for the loss of this great man.
Without E. Parry Thomas and his partner, Jerome Mack, Las Vegas wouldn’t be the great city it is today. They, together, changed Las Vegas’ course in history and, while doing so, changed the history of Opportunity Village. Their belief in the mission of Opportunity Village and in the families we serve each day led to a major gift to the Thomas and Mack Employment Training Center at the Engelstad Family Campus 8 years ago. The first major donation I personally requested and received for Opportunity Village more than 35 years ago came from a meeting with Mr. E Parry Thomas, an auspicious meeting with a giant of a man that set the future for Opportunity Village.
E. Parry Thomas headed up a family of incredibly talented, brilliant and wonderful people who stepped in when their dad retired. From development, to medicine, to banking, design and art, this is one of the most accomplished families in Nevada and Opportunity Village is blessed to have their support. We send our love.
